Steve Morris

United Kingdom citizen who died in the terrorist attacks in America on 11 September 2001.

Stephen Philip Morris was born on 21 May 1970 in Chester, Cheshire, the eldest child of Philip L. Morris (b.1945) and Judith A. Morris née Lacy (b.1944) He was later joined by a brother, Andrew Paul Morris in 1973 and a sister, Kate Morris in 1976.

Aged six, he moved with his family to Maidstone, Kent and it was here that he attended Langley Park School where he gained ten O-Levels.

In 1987, the family returned to The Wirral, Merseyside and he studied at Calday Grange Grammar School, leaving with five A-Levels. Following his passion for computing, he went on to gain an Honours Degree in Computer Science from Loughborough University. Graduating in 1992, he then secured employment with Rank Xerox as an Oracle Database Administrator.

In 1994, he founded Delphi Services Limited; a company established to work with Oracle Databases. It was during this time that he began to research his family history. Through this, he learnt of a branch of the family in America and made several trips to re-establish contact. In March 1996, with a wish to see more of the USA, he undertook a contract in California leaving Manchester Airport in April 1996.

In 1998 he began to work for Oracle directly, progressing to Technical Manager. In this role, he travelled all over America from his base in Atlanta, Georgia, finally moving to Ormond Beach, Daytona, Florida in 2001.

He died, aged 31 years, whilst working as a consultant of Oracle Corporation for Marsh & McLennan, a company that occupied floors 93 to 100 in the North Tower, 1 World Trade Centre, Manhattan, New York, USA.
