Arthur Newton Davey was born on 27 September 1924, the son of Alfred Harold Davey (1887-1957) and Emily Elizabeth Davey née Clarke (1897-1953). His birth was registered in the 4th quarter of 1924 in the Willesden Registration District, Middlesex (now Greater London). The family home was 8 Milton Avenue, Harlesden, Middlesex (now Greater London) and in the 1939 England and Wales Register his father was shown as a postman.
In March 1943 he was appointed as a Sorter in the London Postal Service. He joined the Royal Navy, service number C/JX405712, and served as a Telegraphist on H.M.S. Sarawak, a Colony Class Frigate.
The circumstances of his death are not known but a Probate Record reads “Arthur Lewton (sic) Davey of 8 Milton Avenue, Harlesden, London, N.W.10., who was last seen alive on the 30th March 1945 and whose dead body was found at Crayaved, Castlereagh, County Down on the 29th April 1945. Administration granted on 9 August 1945 to Emily Elizabeth Davey. Effects £169-4s-5d.” His death was ruled as an 'Accidental Drowning'.
He was aged 20 years and is , Belfast City Cemetery, 511 Falls Road, Belfast, BT12 6DE.
He is shown as 'DAVEY A.N.' on the Western Postal District war memorial at Mount Pleasant, London, WC1. He is also commemorated on the and on .
