Our colleague, Andrew Behan, advises that when his death was registered in the 4th quarter of 1997 in the Kingston-upon-Thames Registration District, Greater London, his date of birth was recorded as 14 September 1958, making him aged 39 years. An article dated 1 September 2000 on the claims that he was a Tooting firefighter.

He is shown as "T/LFf. Michael Lyndon Evans" on the memorial plaque in Highgate Cemetery, Swain's Lane, London, N6. He is also commemorated on the National Firefighters Memorial at Sermon Lane, London, EC4 and on the .
