Andrew Behan has kindly provided this research: Victor Ronald Tidder was born on 3 February 1908 in Bow, the eighth of the ten children of William Joseph Tidder (1865-1918) and Hannah Tidder née Howard (1870-1918). His father was a Foundry Labourer and the family lived at 169 Usher Road, Bow. On 1 March 1908 he was baptised at St Mark's Church, Victoria Park, Bow.
In 1937 he married Lydia L. Dore in Poplar and they had one son, John V. Tidder who was born in 1939. Electoral registers for 1939 show the family living at 27 Mornington Grove, Bow.
He was a driver in the London Auxiliary Ambulance Service and died, aged 32 years, on 18 September 1940 when a high explosive bomb fell on Saunders Ness Road School, Isle of Dogs, London, E.14, that was being used as Auxiliary Fire Service Sub Station No.35U. He was buried on 27 September 1940 in the City of London and Tower Hamlets Cemetery, Southern Grove, London, E3 4PX and is also commemorated in the Civilian War Dead Roll of Honour, located near St. George's Chapel in Westminster Abbey. This Roll of Honour states that the family were living at 45 Lefevre Road, Bow.
