William Jenkyn, MA

Nonconformist minister. Born Suffolk. His mother was great-granddaughter of John Rogers. A pro-royalist, he was held in the Tower in 1651 but escaped execution. In 1684 he was again arrested for refusing to stop trying to change things and held in Newgate Prison, where he died. Buried in Bunhill burial ground.

His son, also William, was executed for his part in the Monmouth rebellion. Great family tradition of fatal rebellion stretching over 5 generations.
