Antiquarian, lawyer, politician and writer. His name was also spelt Lambarde. Born London, he studied law at Lincoln's Inn, wrote the 'Perambulation of Kent', (the first English county history) and probably served as Member of Parliament for Aldborough in the Parliament of 1563–1567. In 1576 he founded the Queen Elizabeth College Almshouses in Greenwich. Appointed Keeper of the Rolls in 1597.
