William Robert Colton

Sculptor. Born Paris but came to England early and made his home in London.

The only other public work in London that we know of is the 1897 , in Hyde Park, just north of the Cavalry memorial. We've seen this called a Memorial Fountain but we think that is a careless misreading of "Mermaid" since nowhere can we discover what is supposedly being commemorated. It was replaced with a concrete reproduction in 1975.
