A progressive rock band formed in the basement of the then Lucky Horseshoe Cafe, at the site of the plaque.  Their first gig with the name Yes was in Essex on 3 August 1968. The band is still recording (2023) and have a .

There have been numerous line-up changes, involving  20 musicians as full-time members, including Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman.
