The names on the outer circumference sound as though they are areas of Blackheath, but we cannot find any confirmation for this.
2024: We are grateful to John Davis for explaining that "The names given on each quadrant of the circle relate to the field (area of Blackheath) directly adjacent:
West Kent field – named after the West Kent Wanderers, a cricket club formed by the landlord of the Hare & Billet pub in 1859, who used to play on that field.
Lincoln Field named after the Lincoln Regiment which stayed there during WW1.
Church Field – All Saints church is on it.
Old Donkey Pit – long gone, probably filled in during the 19th century – although another text (the London Naturalist) suggests it was after 1943, with debris from WW2.

And John points out that Google Maps has this feature incorrectly labelled as "Millennium Circle", which is proving difficult to fix.
