Archer Street Chambers was built in 1882/3 as dwellings for artisans. It was purchased for improvement by the Soho Housing Association in 1978 and after extensive renovation work was opened on 3rd June 1981 by Geoffrey Finsberg Esq., MBE., JP., MP.

Catherine Walters (Skittles), "The last Victorian Courtesan", lived here from 1872 until 1920.
This is the foundation stone for the second wing of the Institute. She returned on 31 May 1924 to open the Institute.
Unveiled by Sir John Gielgud on the centenary of the first night of An Ideal Husband.
London County Council Sir Marc Isambard Brunel, 1769-1849, and Isambard Kingdom Brunel, 1806-1859, civil engineers, lived here.
