Boat in Molesey

Inscription

{On the boat-shaped board:}
Sit, climb, stand, balance, rock with the waves and find your sea legs on Ratty and Moley, play to your heart's content.

Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing, absolutely nothing, half so worth doing as simply messing about in boats.  Kenneth Grahame

{The boat in our photo has name-plates, both reading:}
Moley

Site: Boat in Molesey (1 memorial)

KT8, River Thames path

A large scar in the ground (and a shape in satellite view) confirms that originally there were two boats here.

Kenneth Grahame lived near Cookham Dean and it is that section (not this section) of the Thames that is thought to have inspired Wind in the Willows. Perhaps it was the closeness of 'Moley' to 'Molesey' that inspired this childrens' amusement at this location.
