Bronze cherub

Inscription

Bronze figure
This bronze figure, in the form of a smiling cherub boy holding a fish, was discovered at the old Albany School in Bell Lane, Enfield in 2014.

It was most probably cast c.1930 by Morris Singer, the internationally renowned bronze factory once based in Westminster, London.

Morris Singer also cast the lions in Trafalgar Square.

Site: Bronze cherub (1 memorial)

EN2, Silver Street

in 2013 this statue was by maintenance workers in the grounds of what was at the time, the Oasis Academy Hadley in Bell Lane.

Apart from the founder, whose mark must be imprinted on the base, no one seems to know anything about it. The Council have dated it 1920s -1950s and have placed it here outside their offices.

The site where it was found has been occupied as follows: Albany School 1939 - 2009; Oasis Academy Hadley until 2013; Ark John Keats Academy to date (2021).

We don't think this is a memorial, so really we should not be interested, but we always like a mystery. If you know anything about the statue please contact us.
