Musical Heritage

We took a (very bad) photo of this plaque some years ago. The theatre was closed at the time, but the plaque could be seen in the foyer, so we had to take our shot through a glass door. On returning to the location, we found no sign of it. We know the building has been renovated, so the plaque might still be somewhere inside. The photo we have used comes from (no longer active).

W6, Queen Caroline Street, 45, Hammersmith Apollo

The Hammersmith Apollo (originally the Gaumont Palace Cinema, and then the Hammersmith Odeon), regularly changes its name, depending on its current sponsor. As at November 2019, it was known as the Eventim Apollo.

In March 1958 Buddy Holly and The Crickets toured around the UK and the Hammersmith Gaumont (as it then was) was the venue for their final UK concert.
