Christine Murrell memorial

Site: Christine Murrell memorial (1 memorial)

NW8, Broadley Street

In November 1933 the St. Marylebone Health Society, as a memorial to Murrell, was planning "to build a new infant welfare centre and day nursery on the site of the centre where Dr. Murrell started an infant consultation in 1907, worked for eighteen years, and then became honorary consulting physician." We think this building is the result. It is in a rather subdued Art Deco style with a very unusual brick bond which we can't name. It's not Running, Flemish, English, Checker, Basketweave, Stacked or Herringbone, or any of the others pictured on the web - you can tell we enjoyed the hunt.
