{Below the arms of the Worshipful Company of Cooks:}
Cooks Hall was built on this site circa 1500 and rebuilt and enlarged 1674. In 1764 a fire partially destroyed the Hall which was again rebuilt but was totally destroyed by fire in 1771.

Sir David Low, 1891 - 1963, political cartoonist, had his studio here, 1929 - 1940. Erected by the Heath and Hampstead Society
To the glory of God & in memory of William Benett, Esquire, these schools were erected by his daughter, AD 1863.
The plaque gives his birth year as 1863, when, according to the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography, it was 1869.
