Plaque

Damage caused by Shadwell Basin diggings

Inscription

{So weather-worn as to be almost totally illegible. The first two lines may read:}
This wall is the property of the parish of St Paul’s Shadwell .....

Site: St Paul’s Shadwell - wall plaque (1 memorial)

E1, The Highway, St Paul’s Shadwell

The west front of the church has 3 plaques, left to right: 'J. Walters - Architect.', 'Rebuilt,Anno Domini MDCCCXX.', 'R. Streather - Builder.'.

The featured plaque is in the garden at the rear on the wall at the eastern boundary. Everything we know about this plaque comes from : "... stone plaque in the churchyard wall of St Paul’s Shadwell, placed after it was shored up when Shadwell Basin was being excavated between 1828-32 and the church began to slide downhill." So we went along expecting to be able to transcribe the plaque but it's not possible.
