Site: Duke of Buckingham's house (1 memorial)

EC4, College Hill

This plaque is beside the entrance to Newcastle Court. informs that name came from the new castle (or mansion) built by Buckingham. The date given on the plaque falls during the dukedom (is that the correct term?) of the 2nd duke. It's not clear what the date signifies though it's probably the year that the old family residence was replaced with a new house.
