Edward Murrow

Inscription

English Heritage
Edward R. Murrow, 1908 - 1965, American broadcaster, lived here in flat No. 5, 1938 - 1946.

Site: Edward Murrow (1 memorial)

W1, Hallam Street, 84 - 94, Weymouth House

Bonus fact: that the Austrian author Stefan Zweig lived in this street c.1934-9 but in 2012 English Heritage rejected an application for a Zweig plaque.

While here Zweig hosted a refugees' cultural salon and "... used to wander the streets of London seeking out the memorial plaques of earlier exiles - Marx, Lenin and Sun Yat-sen among them - in order to still feel part of a familiar community of elite global citizens; trying to convince himself that the bowl of lights around Piccadilly Circus was the centre of the world." (The Impossible Exile by George Prochnik).
