Plaque

Eric Dixon

Inscription

In memory of Eric Dixon 1930 - 1991 transport campaigner.
Erected by W.H.A.T.

We discovered the plaque through the app.

This is rather sad. The plaque is at the far end of the platform where it is probably rarely noticed, and although he was obviously well-thought of, there is no explanation about what Dixon did, nor what W.H.A.T. was.  But see Dixon's page for a partial explanation. And we got some gen. on W.H.A.T.

2024: We thank John Davis who provided helpful information about both WHAT and Dixon.

Site: Eric Dixon (1 memorial)

NW6, West Hampstead Underground station, West End Lane

In our photo the plaque can be seen, in the flower bed.  Note: this is at the Underground station, not the nearby Overground station.
