Plaque

Foyles - William Foyle

Inscription

Lord Justice Darling was in the shop. He offered me 4 shillings for a book marked 7 shillings. I said 'My Lord, if you sentenced me to 7 years in your court and I suggested 4 years, would you agree?' Eventually he gave me 5 shillings.

Site: Foyles (2 memorials)

W1, Tottenham Court Road, Foyles bookshop

We found these two plaques in the basement, near the lift and stairwell.  There may be others elsewhere in the store - if you find any please let us know - too late - reports (2014) that Foyles are moving again, a few doors down Charing Cross Road.
