Rhoda Garrett, 1841 - 1882, Agnes Garrett, 1845 - 1935, interior decorators and suffragists, lived, worked and died here.

Agnes and Rhoda moved here, with their business, in mid 1875.  Rhoda died here in 1882. When Millicent Fawcett was widowed in 1884, she and her daughter, Philippa, joined Agnes here. Millicent died here in 1929, and Agnes in  1935.  Philippa died in Hendon.

Rhoda and Agnes Garrett are also memorialized on a 2018 plaque by the gate to their , Sussex, house, then known as ‘The Firs’.
