2015: The histories of nos 10 and 11, now occupied by the British Academy, are covered by an excellent . There we learn that the columns on the portico of the National Gallery came from , which used to occupy this site, demolished in 1826 by George IV to make way for the Regent Street area redesign.
Many architectural features from Carlton House were reused at: Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, Royal Lodge, and possibly even the Brighton Pavilion. At the National Gallery, bases and capitals of the exterior columns were reused for the porticos at the east and west entrances, but the columns themselves had deteriorated while stored in St James' Park. Also, at we found reference to Mountfort House in Barnsbury: "Pilasters inside from Carlton House".
