This foundation stone was laid by the Right Worshipful, the Mayor Edmund Barnes, Esq. on Wednesday 29th October 1902.

An ornamental, architectural plaque, just above the archway and mainly hidden by the foliage, reads "Goldington Buildings, 1903".

The foundation stone can be seen in our photo, just above the near-central bollard; the refurbishment stone is inside the archway.
