Great Ormond Street Hosp. - Peter Pan

Inscription

Peter Pan
In grateful memory of Sir James Barrie (1860 - 1937) for his gift to Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and in warm appreciation of the exceptional support of Audrey and James Callaghan.

In 2005, after our photo, to the statue, fluttering at Peter's left hand.

Site: Great Ormond Street Hospital (2 memorials)

WC1, Great Ormond Street, Great Ormond Street Hospital

The ashes of James Callaghan (and possibly Audrey's too) were scattered in the flower bed at the base of this statue.

See the Callaghan's page for the important connection they have with the hospital.

May 2024: We returned because we wanted a photo with Tinkerbell, but the hospital is in the midst of changes: the entrance that we photographed does not exist anymore and we were told that the statue is in the restaurant, 'upstairs'.  We never feel comfortable poking around in hospitals when so many people are coming and going, often experiencing very low points in their lives. We will leave the hospital to get on with its laudable task and just keep these pages as a record.
