Inscription

To the happy memory of Harold Vyvyan and Vere Harmsworth, sons of Viscount Rothermere, who gave their lives for us in the Great War. 1914 - 18.
"These laid the world away, poured out the red sweet wine of youth, gave up the years to be of work and joy."

The verse is from "The Dead" by Rupert Brooke.

WC1, Coram's Fields

The large plaque is on the back wall of this little pavilion. There are reliefs of frolicking children around the outside, under the eaves, and on the weather vane is a boy about to kick a football.

See the memorial at the entrance to these fields for the Harmsworth connection.
