Oh, this is so good - an ideal homage to Hitch's penchant for appearing in his films but in a way that you may miss him completely, like the invisible gorilla. Here his trademark silhouette is painted in one of the bird's eyes, exactly the right place for a film-maker to be hidden. Perfect.

To the left, just out of view of our camera there is a petrol station. This is where the Hitchcock family greengrocers used to stand and where Alfred was born. The plaque is affixed to the back wall of the forecourt.
On the pavement, about where the man is walking, there are a number of black birds inlaid into the flags.
