Holy Trinity Clapham - Manor House School

Inscription

Manor House School - in remembrance of those old Manorians who at the call of duty gave up their lives that others might live in freedom.   1914 - 1919.

Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori

The Latin quote is  from the Roman poet Horace's Odes and translates roughly as "It is sweet and right to die for your country."

The two plaques containing the list of WW1 names are in the porch at the west end, either side of the entrance.  The blue plaque to Wilberforce is also in the porch, above the door to the right.  The plaque to the Clapham Sect is on the right, south, side of the church; the plaque to Manor House School is on the left side.
