Hoyland

Erection date: 9/5/1893

Inscription

This stone was laid by Mr Thomas Hoyland, Acting Superintendent on behalf of the teachers of the old Snow Fields Ragged School.
May 9th 1893

Hoyland was interviewed by Charles Booth regarding this mission on 2 February 1900.

Site: Ragged school (2 memorials)

SE1, Snowfields

The main front facade has three plaques:
- "Feed my lambs"
- 'Arthur's Mission Snow's-Fields 1865 - 1893'
- the Pearce plaque.

The Hoyland plaque is to the right, on the red brick wall just before the corner.

Presumably the Mission was named for someone called Arthur but we can't identify him.
