John Richard Green, 1837 - 1883, historian, lived in a house on this site, 1869 - 1876.

From : "In 1909 the LCC put up a memorial tablet, re-set in 1925 when the old house was rebuilt as part of the Duchess Nursing Home. The present plaque, replacing the broken tablet of 1909, dates from 1963.
