Plaque

Lombard Wharf

Erection date: 12/10/2017

Inscription

This plaque was donated by Barratt London to mark the reopening of the Thames Path adjacent to its Lombard Wharf development. This stretch of the Thames Path was officially reopened by the Leader of Wandsworth Council, Councillor Ravi Govindia, CBE on 12 October 2017.

Site: Thames Path - Lombard Wharf (1 memorial)

SW11, Thames Path, Lombard Wharf

The plaque is on the modern low gray wall to the left of our photo, facing to the right.

This development opened up this section of the Thames Path - the first public access in 120 years.

In 2017 there was a lot of talk of the cross-Thames Diamond Jubilee Footbridge (also known as the Cremorne Footbridge) - which was expected to open in 2019 connecting Lombard Wharf to Imperial Wharf. The name of the footbridge references the place where the Queen boarded the royal barge for the Diamond Jubilee river pageant. The foundations at the east end (this end) were built as part of the Lombard Wharf development but it seems funding still needs to be secured for any further progress to be made.
