Masons Hall

Erection date: 3/7/2018

Inscription

On this site stood the hall of the Worshipful Company of Masons.

Site: Masons Hall (1 memorial)

EC2, Masons Avenue, 12

The alley is so narrow that it's difficult to photograph this interesting building. In our photo you can see the black plaque on the white wall, below the white overhang with '12'. Above this is a large stained-glass window and above that a bridge room reaching over the alley (obscured by the lantern).

A  gives: "As a reminder of the old days, the present building, which was completed in 1980, has the beautiful stained-glass windows with masonic emblems incorporated into the design."

No stained-glass looks its best from the outside and this one is very difficult to see at all. It seems almost entirely abstract but with references to the square and compass, a stone mason's tools. Really we need to see it from the inside but cannot find it on-line.
