We take the date on the memorial, 3 September 1896, to be the date Mrs Woodford Fawcett died.

The drinking fountain was demolished by a vehicle crashing into it on Sunday 13 October 2024. Better a memorial fountain than a person. The Council planned to reinstate the fountain on or about Monday 6 October 2025.
