Plaque

New Cross V2 attack - plaque 2

Inscription

{Beneath an illustration of a magpie:}
In memory of the 168 people who lost their lives here during WW2 on the 25th of November 1944.
One for sorrow.

The photograph was taken some years ago and sadly since then, this plaque has been vandalised by being painted over. It is not clear therefore, whether the cross in the background is part of the design or an eerily coincidental reflection. We have contacted Lewisham Council to ask if the plaque is to be restored.
