William Walker MVO, 1869 - 1918, "The deep sea diver who saved Winchester Cathedral"..... while living here.
PPR - People for Portland Road

Erected in the centenary year of his death. Such a fittingly designed plaque. Let's have more of them.

Worked at Winchester Cathedral 1906 - 11. During the latter part of this time he cycled home, 75 miles to South Norwood at weekends, returning by train each Monday.
