Plaque

Regina Fong

Inscription

Her Imperial Highness the Grand Duchess Regina Fong, 1945 - 2003, "Last of the Romanoffs", reigned supreme on this site.
The Black Cap

Site: Regina Fong (1 memorial)

NW1, Camden High Street, 171, The Black Cap Public House

The plaque is in the first floor garden terrace bar. Our colleague Alan Patient informs us that the Black Cap closed suddenly in about April 2015, the owners of course wanting to develop it into flats. The Black Cap was very important in gay London's history and there is a campaign to reopen it.

2019: This article called for the return of this plaque, so we've marked it as 'lost'.

March 2026: Alan was delighted to report that the Black Cap reopens next weekend after being beautifully renovated. A few of the guys from the London Gay Men's Chorus went to a pre-opening event and took lots of photos, one of which shows that Regina’s plaque is still there.  So we've taken off the 'lost' flag.
