Plaque

Smithfield - Butchers

Inscription

{Below the crest:}
Omnia subjecisti sub pedibus oves et boves {Latin for: Thou hast put all things under his feet, all Sheep and Oxen}

{On flanking stones:}
Worshipful Company of Butchers
Presented by J. A. Brewster Esq, Master 1961 - 1962

The flanking stones don't really explain: Where did this crest come from (one of their 7 halls presumably, but which)? And why is it here, on the Poulters Hall?

Site: Smithfield Poultry Market (3 memorials)

EC1, East Poultry Avenue

Referring to our photo, the plaques are, left to right: Poulters; opening; Butchers.
