The facade of this building tells the history of the school. Each of the 4 gable ends carries a plaque with a dated event, reading from left to right: 1887, 1698, 1972, 1870. Lower down are two, more decorative plaques, commemorating two treasurers, left to right: Pedder and Telfer.
is now in premises in nearby Radnor Street.

We love the repeated "etc."s to indicate the Duke's excessively long list of honours, etc. (now we're at it!).
The plaque refers to "Thomas Branden, Duke of Suffolk". We have two problems with this: firstly "Branden" is elsewhere consistently spelt...
Not easy to spot, this plaque is laid into the ground, slightly right of centre in our photo.
