Surbiton war memorial - WW1 names and WW2

Inscription

{Front panel:}
The Urban District of Surbiton war memorial.
In honoured memory of the men of this district who died for their country in the great war 1914 - 1918 and that of 1939 - 1945.
''Lest we forget.''

{Seven panels with 386 names of WW1 fatalities. See Subjects commemorated.}

{Small plaque on the base:}
This memorial garden was extended in memory of those who fell in World War II and whose names are inscribed in the book of remembrance lodged in the central library.
11th November 1952.

{Four small urns at the base:}
Eric
Dear Jim H.J.P. 13.10.1916
Hugh (illegible characters) 1916
Eric Bird ''The Sting'' also Cyril W. Bird

There are several names at the bottom of the memorial which are not in alphabetical order. Presumably these were added after the memorial was erected.

The names on the urns refer, we believe, to: Eric (unknown); Jim H. J. P. (H. J. Puddick); Hugh (unknown), Eric Bird (E. J. Bird); Cyril W. Bird (unknown).
