Forty yards south of this building on the east side was the site of The Foundery, John Wesley's headquarters 1739 - 78 and the first Methodist Book-room. The mother of the Wesleys died there 30th July 1742.

Note: other sources seem agreed that Susannah died on the 23rd not the 30th of July.

This building's function seems to be to take deliveries for The Epworth, co-working and meeting rooms, at 25 City Road.
As stated by the plaque, the site of The Foundery is a short distance away; Rocque's 1746 map shows a building on the south-east corner of what is now Tabernacle Street and Bonhill Street, marked "Meth M" for Methodist Mission we guess. The building on that site has a perfectly good brick wall to which a plaque could be affixed.
2015: reported that this plaque missing.
2024: We see that this building has been renovated (its facade at least) and the plaque has been re-erected.
