Holy Trinity Halls
Holy Trinity Halls began life as the Trinity National School founded in 1836 by the Revd. Edward Blick. It is also the site of two historic rope wells which have now been restored.
We believe a rope well is the same as a rope pump, in which a loose hanging rope is lowered into a well and drawn up through a long pipe with the lower end immersed in the water. Round discs matching the diameter of the pipe are attached to the rope, which pull water to the surface.
From : "... two restored rope wells. These are not on display to the public because they are below the modern floors."
Site: Trinity School and rope wells - Rotherhithe (1 memorial)
SE16, Rotherhithe Street, Holy Trinity Halls
Where it reads "Trinity Halls" (in attached lettering) it has previously read "Infant School" (in incised letters).
