Vauxhall lavender garden

Inscription

Vauxhall - this garden created in partnership with Vauxhall Motors to celebrate its centenary in 2007.

Site: Vauxhall lavender garden (1 memorial)

SW8, Vauxhall Park

The stones laid in the ground nearest the camera were, we think, once the base for a bench, now gone. The inscription is on the the stones between those and the mass of lavender plants. In Google Satellite View you can see how carefully the planting of the lavender has been planned. Almost a maze (with sunbathers making good use of the privacy), which would make it the second in Vauxhall Park, the first being a circular labyrinth just to the west of the pergola.

From : "General Motors contributed to the cost of Vauxhall Park lavender garden, which is shaped to spell out ‘GM’." Nah, we can't see it - have a look yourself in Google Satellite View - looks more like an 'S'.

But there is a human sundial at the centre of the lavenders - your provide the gnomon yourself, with your body.
