Plaque

Victims of conflict

Inscription

{Beneath the crest of the Royal British Legion and a representation of a poppy:}
Dedicated to the memory of the war dead, military and civilian, who gave their lives in all conflicts at home and overseas.
"We shall remember them"

The poppy and the British Legion crest both suggest that this memorial is commemorating the British dead of WW1 and WW2 and other wars since, but the text is non-specific regarding nationality, chronology or geography. The broadness of the dedication makes one appreciate the specificity of those memorials at churches to "those men of this parish".
