The poppy and the British Legion crest both suggest that this memorial is commemorating the British dead of WW1 and WW2 and other wars since, but the text is non-specific regarding nationality, chronology or geography. The broadness of the dedication makes one appreciate the specificity of those memorials at churches to "those men of this parish".
