War memorial: Gamages and Benetfink

Inscription

To the glory of God and to the eternal honour of those members of the staffs of A. W. Gamage Ltd and Benetfink & Co.Ltd. who fell in the Great War, 1914 - 1918.
{A list of 33 names in alphabetical order, see Subjects commemorated.}

The use of the expression "fell" strongly suggests that all the listed names were serving in the armed forces when killed and were not civilians killed by bombs at home.

EC4, Holborn Viaduct, St Andrews Holborn, in garden

The Gamages/Benetfink plaque was brought to our attention by this post at A .

In our photo you can see a path leading from the terrace to the Gamage and Benetfink plaque.  At the terrace end the J. D. D. plaque is laid into that path. We understand that the gardens around the church used to be a graveyard so stones like this are to be expected but its position seems to be indicating a connection of some sort with the Gamage and Benetfink plaque.
