William Shakespeare - British Library

Erection date: 2005

An information panel informs that the statue was commissioned by David Garrick and sculpted by Louis Roubiliac. It was bequeathed to the British Museum in 1799 and transferred to the British Library in 2005.

All the sculptures are inside the main building, mainly in or around the entrance foyer. The Wilson bust is in the south-east corner of the main foyer.

See Father Jellicoe for the Gilbert Bayes finials, some of which are/were on display in the BL lower level.

A plaque near the 4 busts in their brick roundels describes them as "the founders".
