Plaque

WW2 - Westminster

Erection date: 16/8/1995

Inscription

Westminster City Council
In recognition of the steadfast endurance of the people of Westminster during World War II (1939 - 1945).
This plaque was unveiled by the Lord Mayor of Westminster City Council, Councillor Alan Bradley, for the 50th Anniversary of VJ Day, 16th August 1995.

15 August is the official VJ Day in the UK so erecting this plaque on Wednesday 16th was perverse.

We've not seen wet slate plaques look so bad before. Perhaps this is some slate-imitation, which can't cope with rain.
