In recognition of the steadfast endurance of the people of Westminster during World War II (1939 - 1945).
This plaque was unveiled by the Lord Mayor of Westminster City Council, Councillor Alan Bradley, for the 50th Anniversary of VJ Day, 16th August 1995.

15 August is the official VJ Day in the UK so erecting this plaque on Wednesday 16th was perverse.
