Site: Cambridge Barracks gate house (1 memorial)
SE18, Frances Street
It is very difficult to get a long shot of the plaque. In our photo it can just be seen between the second and third pillars, above the cannons.
This shows that the Barracks consisted of a quadrangle, about 4 times the size of the garden now there, surrounded on all sides by buildings. What remains is the central gate house with its clock tower (to the right of our photo) flanked by two pavilions, one of which bears the plaque.
