Site: Henry Purcell - Queen Elizabeth Hall (1 memorial)
SE1, Belvedere Road, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Southbank Centre
The inscription can be seen in our photo, on the wall to the right of the entrance to the Purcell Room.
The two concert halls, the Queen Elizabeth Hall and the Purcell Room, were built together and opened in March 1967 - that's 8 years after the Purcell tercentenary celebrated in the inscription. However, the decision to build the QEH, and presumably the linked Purcell Room, was taken in 1955 when they probably thought they had plenty of time.
