High above the plaque is a large decorative panel of terracotta bricks carved '1894'.

From : "Saxon Lea Court. This was St Stephen’s National Schools built by James Tolley in 1859 with an extension from 1893-4 by G.E. Holman. It is now flats."

This shows: the building with the plaque {by Holman} was the Sunday School and that set further back {by Tolley} was the Infant School. The shows it all labelled 'Hall'. 

The overseeing St Stephen's church was on nearby Tredegar Road, in the block opposite Cardigan Road. Constructed in 1858 it was destroyed by by WW2 bombs.
