Aston Martin

Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford formed the company, initially as Bamford and Martin Ltd.  They used the garage at the site of the plaque as a workshop and here they developed their first model the ‘Coal Scuttle’, completing in 1915.  Following its impressive performance at Aston Hill, a venue for hill climb competitions, they added Aston to the firm’s name.

2015: The firm is now called Aston Martin Lagonda Limited.
