His gives much information about this man but (as at 2026) it incorrectly shows his year of birth as 1879. Claude Waterlow Ferrier was born on 6 June 1878, the second of the three children of Sir David Ferrier (1843-1928) and Constance Eliza Ferrier née Waterlow (1853-1938). His birth was registered in the 3rd quarter of 1878 in the Marylebone Registration District, Middlesex (now Greater London). He was baptised on 3 August 1878 in St John's Church, Redhill, Surrey.
His two sisters were: Constance Mabel Ferrier (1875-1878) and Dorothea Gertrude Ferrier (1879-1949).
He was shown as aged 2 years in the census that was undertaken on 3 April 1881 and was living at 16 Upper Berkeley Street, Marylebone, with his parents and his sister Dorothea Gertrude Ferrier, together with a cook, a housemaid and a nurse. His father was described as M.D.(Edin), physician.
He was listed as aged 12 years in the census that was compiled on 5 April 1891 and was one of the 37 scholars who were boarding at the Albion House School, Albion Road, Margate, Kent.
He was described as aged 32 years, single and an architect on the census return form that was completed by his father on 2 April 1911. He was living in a 21 roomed property at 34 Cavendish Square, Marylebone, with his parents and his sister, together with a cook, a lady's maid, a parlour maid, two housemaids and a kitchen maid.
When he completed his census return form on 19 June 1921 he stated that he was aged 43 years, single and both an architect and an employer. He was occupying two rooms at Marlow House, Maddox Street, London, W1 and his business address was in Waterloo Place, London, SW1.
His death was registered as aged 57 years in the 3rd quarter of 1935 in the Westminster Registration District, London. Probate records show that his address had been 26 Old Queen Street, London, SW1, but that he had died on 6 July 1935 at St George's Hospital, Hyde Park Corner, London, SW1. Probate was granted on 23 October 1935 jointly to George Henry Rigby - a solicitor and to Sir Howard d'Egville, K.B.E. His effects totalled £54,624-18s-2d.
He is shown as CLAUDE•W•FERRIER - ARCHITECT on the memorial plaque attached to the Capio Nightingale Hospital, 11-19 Lisson Grove, London, NW1 6SH and as CLAUDE.W.FERRIER, F•R•I•B•A. ARCHITECT on the left hand stone tablet attached to The Mothers' Union, Mary Sumner House, 24 Tufton Street, London, SW1P 3RB.
